Cancellation and Refund Policy
General Guidance
We rely on customers who have made reservations in advance to give us fair notice of
cancellation. By taking your reservation, we agree to keep that room or rooms
available to you, to the exclusion of all others, for when you requested it.
A room cancellation in a hotel may amount to less than 2% of the total capacity of
that hotel and therefore any cancellation has little effect on their overall
business for any particular day. In the case of a guesthouse, any cancellation
represents a far greater proportion of their business for any particular day and, in
the case of Glenderran Guesthouse, it represents between 12% - 25% of our capacity,
depending on the type of room cancelled. That is why guesthouse Cancellation
Policies are generally less flexible than those of the hotels.
We request that where possible any cancellations should be made within the requested
time periods specified below. They must also be confirmed in writing by letter,
e-mail or fax. It is also preferable that any cancellations or amendments to
bookings should be made by the individual who made the initial booking.
No refunds are given in the event of early check-outs.
We recommend that Travel Insurance be taken out to cover guests in the event of a
late cancellation.
Note: Personal details requested on booking are for our 'sole' use and are not
passed on to any 3rd party except where we make enquires for and on your behalf at
another establishment.
Accommodation Bookings for 2 Nights or less:
Cancellations should be notified as soon as is practically possible, however:
Provided cancellation is made 14 days or more prior to the date of arrival, no
charges will be payable and any deposit already paid will be refunded.
If cancellations are made less than 14 days prior to arrival, a charge equivalent to
one night's stay or the loss of any deposit already paid (whichever is the greater)
will be charged to the credit card used to secure the initial reservation.
Accommodation Bookings for 3 or More Nights:
Cancellations should be notified as soon as is practically possible, however:
Provided cancellation is made 28 days or more prior to the date of arrival, no
charges will be payable and a refund of any deposit paid shall be made.
If cancellations are made less than 28 days prior to arrival, a cancellation charge
of £100 or the loss of any deposit already paid ( whichever is the greater ) will be
charged to the credit card used to secure the initial reservation.
We trust that our guests will consider this to be a fair and reasonable policy.

LOCAL INFORMATION PAGE
The Royal Burgh and City of St Andrews
Glenderran Guesthouse is located close to the heart of St Andrews, just 250
yards from the first tee of the Old Course and the West Sands beach, and a
similar distance from the main shopping area's of Market Street, in the centre
of town, and South Street, which offer a wide variety of shopping and
amenities. This makes our guesthouse an ideal location for all activities,
whether it be golfing, shopping or general sight-seeing. All can be reached
without the need for transport.
The Royal Burgh and City of St Andrews is relatively small, with a population of 16,000.
Miles of safe beaches surround St Andrews and are easily accessed from
Glenderran for exhilarating walks along the North Sea Coast. Horseback riding,
bird watching, castle tours, clay pigeon shooting, tennis, go karts, fishing,
golf lessons, archery and many other activities are all available from the town.
Shops, cafes, restaurants and traditional pubs are just a short walk from our doorstep.
For those with a keen interest in history, St Andrews still retains a mediaeval
town layout, with all roads leading to the East and the Cathedral of St Andrews,
12th Century, now in ruins but still magnificant.
The view from St Rule's tower, in the grounds of the Cathedral, is quite amazing
and well worth the effort of the climb up its stairs.
St Andrews Castle, 13th Century, also now in ruins, was once the residence of
the Archbishop of St Andrews.
Both historical monuments are just a few minutes walk from Glenderran.
The University Of St Andrews
Founded in 1411, St Andrews is the oldest university in Scotland and continues to maintain
an enviable reputation for success in teaching, research and employment. The heart of the
University is just a stroll around the corner from Glenderran but occupies many buildings
throughout the town.
The University population (staff and students) numbers around 6,000 and on average,
one in three people you see in the street have something to do with the University.
Very quickly you start to feel that you belong.
